Pick any reason at all that this textbook falls short of being useful. Poor explanations of concepts in the beginning are compounded by rehashing those poor explanations in subsequent chapters. Homework questions that rely on concepts that aren't fleshed out in the text. Referring to of all things, WIKIPEDIA for more information? Really? I just paid 80 dollars to have you redirect me to a free encyclopedia for more information?Oh, and absolutely no digital copies of worksheets that list out 120 objects that need to be typed into Excel. This book is a scam, and if you are a student, I would highly recommend you question why your teacher is assigning it. If you're a teacher and you're using this book, may god have mercy on your soul.
Deserves three negative stars for wasting my time. The authors do not explain concepts clearly. End of chapter exercises correspond very poorly to the subject matter covered in the chapter. The mathematical derivation (or lack thereof) for crucial equations were simply awful. If you are a beginner in business process and modeling, this book will discourage you from learning the material. The biggest selling point of this text book is bundling ExtendSim software coupon. Please avoid if possible.
Worst textbook i've read so far, few definitions, order is all over the place.
Focuses entirely too much on theory and comes up very short in showing actual examples on how to correctly apply in real world scenarios. Many of the questions in the review sections have no connection to the text or the examples provided within. I.E. you have to go looking outside the book for answers to the questions in the book. Very disappointed in this title.

It's a complete guideline for modeling, simulating and designing processes. Very good book, i recommend it to everyone who wants to know more about those BPM topics.
One truly terrible textbook. So much instruction with so little reinforcement. The chapters at times gloss over important subjects and then request the student to apply their “knowledge†to unclear, ambiguous exercises at the end of the chapter. I’ve spent so much of my time re-reading problems to ascertain the requirements. This experience makes me feel like i need an attorney present at all times to distill the literature down to the most salient (and more discernible) details. The extendsim software is perfectly fine and can be fun to work with. Addtionally, the price I paid for the software as a student was really hard to be it. But please avoid this book like the plague.
