The success continues with American Girl’s new series titled, Real Stories from My Time.The concept of this new series is simple, connect the popular American Girl series with real-life moments in history. That is exactly what they have done in the new series, Real Stories from My Time. For example, in Real Stories from my Time: Underground Railroad, American Girl connects real-life history with their famous Addy character. As you read the story, you will have nonfiction chapters mixed in with the historical fiction stores of one of American Girl’s popular doll characters.I really like this new series, and my students have fallen in love with it as well. Right now, we only have Real Stories from My Time: Boston Tea Party, Titanic, and Underground Railroad in our classroom library, but I will be watching for more books from these series to be released in the near future. Although this book is written by American Girl, the series seems to be very gender-friendly. All my students have really loved the combination of the real-life facts and photos of the Titanic with the entertaining story of an American Girl’s perspective.The Real Stories from My Time series offers a fresh take on modern-day nonfiction stories, and it forces students to combine the genres of nonfiction and historical fiction as they are reading. Part of the appeal of this new series is that they are jumping on board with real high-interest moments in history. So far, this series has written books about the sinking of the Titanic, Boston Tea Party, Underground Railroad, and Pearl Harbor.  I believe this series will soon be in direct competition with current nonfiction series such as I Survived and Who Was?, and it will be wildly successful!

We love American Girl and my 7 year old enjoys this book. We are a homeschooling family so it really opened up to learning about the underground railroad.

Edgar Rice Burroughs and Arvid Nelson should be appealing, and there is a lot of that could be interesting about Dejah Thoris beyond slave-girl aesthetics, but this just doesn't seem to hit the mark.. Nelson's work on Rex Mundi is excellent, so I was somewhat surprised how stilted the dialogue was in the book. Carlos Rafael's art is fairly strong, but almost all female characters look the same as do almost all male characters. Rafael's figure work is good for cheesecake artwork, but it doesn't differentiate itself enough even there. Nelson also doesn't do much with the setting being so much earlier than Burroughs' canonical works. Dejah Thoris is a stronger character here than it Burroughs' work, but even with that caveat, Nelson just doesn't do enough with her. Dynamite's inclusion of the sketch work and alternate covers, however, is a bonus as many of these are strong

On Warlord of Mars: Dejah thoris Volume 1-The Colossus of Mars: I wrote earlier about Dynamites Warlord Lord of Mars John Carter and all the problems it had. In that review I only gave the book three stars. There were so many problems with it and I was very disapointed with it being a ERB fan. I also said they needed to get a different artist. I am still going to purchase Volume 2 when it comes out to see if they can fix the problems it had. I also saw this book when I bought the John Carter Graphic Novel. I read John Carter first. Then this book can in the mail. I was bound and determind to read it.Now, Warlord of Mars Dejah Thoris is how an ERB's graphic novel should be done! The artwork is increadibly beatiful. When I opened the book I just couldn't put it down the story was great. The art is out of this world. I really hope that Dynamite will keep this series going. It is definately a seller. You have got to get this book if you are a fan of the man! Heck any comic fan should get this book to see how good comics are supposed to be done. Four hundred years prior to John Carter traveling to Mars, Dejah Thoris appears to have been the hero and action star. The storytelling done in these Dynamite Entertainment graphic novels retains the pulp action feel of the original novels and takes the premise of Dejah Thoris as action princess as in the 2012 film. As heroic and commanding as she is, who needs Carter??The story: The jeddak (king) of Yorn seeks to use the inter-city rivalry between Helium and Zodanga to his advantage to conquer both by the use of an ancient super weapon, the Colossus.The art: The book has beautiful artwork both for the story and the bonus illustrations throughout. The artist proves that pulp-style art never goes out of fashion if presented right. The heroine does pretty much goes near topless for the entire story but it seems to fit in the overall arc of things.Rating: 5 stars for both story and art. Any fan of E.R. Burroughs and/or the Warlord of Mars novels will enjoy this action tale.

Awesome start to the series!My girlfriend does not like the comics i have with "sexy lady's" on the front but i had her read this one and she has changed her mind and wants to read more.

Excellent Loved this 1st Volume of WOM: Dejah Thoris! The art work of Carlos Rafael is amazing, it reminds me of the Michael Whelan covers for the 1979, Del Rey/Ballantine Books of the Edgar Rice Burroughs’ John Carter of Mars novels. As soon as I received this in the mail I read the whole book the story flows really well, can't wait to read the volume 2.

The art inside of these comics don't do justice to the covers. Although it's all very good, I expected much higher quality based on what the covers looked like. Also, I was a bit confused as to the lack of nudity. I'm guessing that some editions show Dejah Thoris topless throughout the entire comic because of images of this on the internet. My edition had her wearing two tiny golden nipple covers. No big deal really, if I was looking for porn I would have gotten porn. I just didnt realize that there are multiple versions of the art as well as many cover variants.

When I ordered the books from Amazon I was very excited for this new media and story telling on the old subject.When they arrived I saw the most wonderious books with covers that jumped out at me like no comic book could, the artwork is astounding, as with the rest of the books.As I read them I was reminded of the comic book with a modern day form of artwork that caters for the graphical titillation of people today.I am a text book reader with the imagination to bring the book to life (with most of the help from the author), where these books, like comics, relies on the graphics to do the work for them. I give the artists much credit to produce this excellent work, which in itself, needs imagination. The extra artwork is a bonus which I also welcome and appreciate.If there is an artist out there with the talents of Burne Hogarth, step forward and start work. He could depict life in the true sense, and to see someone of his caliber would be a dream come true.I would recommend these books to the new generation of collectors and old alike, as I will be collecting them myself, knowing that it is the graphics, and not the story that will keep me interested in them. I hope that in a few years they will inspire me to go back and read them again, as the text books have done.These books deserve 5 out of 5, but I give them 4, as the storyline is less than I expected. To me these books will never hold the same awe as the text books do, but they are excellent books none the less.

Artwork is STUNNING, story is very good. I hope to see a whole series, I will buy every one. I have read every ERB book and of course I want more, this is a delight.

This book is quite short, probably self edited and took about 20 minutes to read. Much of the book is pure fluff, with information repeated in various sections. The book never went through any serious editing process and English was not the author’s first language. There are about 5-10 pages of relevant information- the rest is all filled with information that could be found in a 10 min google search on ham radio frequencies. It literally reads like a long middle-school report on ham radio digital modes wherein the student repeats the same ideas over and over again just to fill pages. The 100 + pages are deceptive, since the pages are quite small and the font quite large. Don’t let the nice looking cover fool you- this book is not worth anywhere near the price. After reading this book, I’m 100% certain that the glowing reviews on book recieved are totally dubious. You’ve been warned. If you’re serious about this subject and want a nice primer on digital modes- this is NOT your book.

I am interested in this topic and I bought this book to learn more about HF Digital. From this guide, I got the information about about what HF digital technology is, why use digital models on HF or amateur bands, how to set up and operate my HF Digital Station, what I need to set up a Digital HF Station and much more useful information. This book is very informative and useful. It is well written and easy to understand. I got much new information on all my question on this topic. I liked this guide and I 'm glad to have it on my Kindle. I would recommend this book for those who need such type of information.

No doubt the author knows how to set up and operate digital modes. Unfortunately, he is not quite literate in English. Kind of like many of his friends he got to review is. Something of a chore to read with incorrect word usage cropping up every few lines. But there are better ways to get up to speed on digital modes than this self-published print on demand.

This book is a great book on HF Digital that is well written and easy to understand by the author. I found this to be an excellent way to star complete Quickstart Guide for Setting up Your First HF Station. Recommended.

All, right, you caught me! One of my guilty pleasures is this series of animated diaries of a middle schooler. This is #11 in the series and like the others is clever, imaginative and funny - assuming you have a sophomoric sense of humor like I do and remember the weirdness of middle school.I got hooked on these a long time ago and each book has gone on to be a best seller. Careful not to confuse them with the ones by James "I'll put my name on anything that makes money" Patterson since he was quick to jump on the concept. They also made a movie but I won't go that far!Issues he wrestles with include "attack geese" roaming the neighborhood, conning his folks into buying him a French horn so he can get himself invited to the band's Halloween party, and the creative genius required to put together a movie called"Night of the Nightcrawlers" inspired when he put a gummy worm up his nose to scare his buddy Rowley.Yeah, I know, I may grow old but I refuse to grow up! Everyone has a weakness or two ...

I am always a happy camper when ordering from Amazon! They never let me down. We pre-ordered the book during the Summer and it arrived the day of it's release. People don't notice the small stuff but I do. As I took the book out of the package I noticed the book has a smooth texture on the front cover. The book cover in general has a smooth grip- like texture, lol. I always love the smell of a new book but the smooth outside texture of the book adds a good feature to the book.The book has comic like pictures, but don't think it's a comic strip type book overall. It is a well worded book from the first page to the last page (217 pages overall) each page has a complete word filled page but the pictures adds to the imagination of the child reading this book. My son started reading this book series at 8. He's now 10 and he LOVES this book series so much he looks forward to the new books that come out and every once in a while re-reads the older book series. We even have family movie nights and I don't mind watching the couple movies that have been made from the "Diary of A Whimpy Kid" book series. I'm 32 and I find parts of the movie hillarious so I can only imagine reading this book as a kid. I can't say enough good things about this book or any other book from the series. If you're a parent like me, you'd rather watch your child read VS. Playing video games or watching TV programs. At least while reading it engages a child's imagination as well as improving their spelling. Some studies has shown that kids, especially those that are more visual learners, spelling improves the more they read. :)I will be on the lookout for more books by this same Author (Jeff Kinney). Don't hesitate to buy the book for your child (ren). I took a glimpse of a few pages already while my son is still at school and it's pretty funny! Ha ha ha. I posted some pictures for previewing. :-D

We just received the book! My son is so excited. He has books 1-10 and has enjoyed each and everyone of them. I'm sure this one won't disappoint him.

My son absolutely adores these books. He would have stayed up all night reading if I had let him! Thank you, for writing books that excite young boys and encourage them to turn page after page!!

My kids love the Wimpy Kids books. I was delighted when I opened this one, to see a hardcover book at half the price. I was not expecting hard cover. Can't wait for the kids to get to reading

It was a great book but I thought it was going to come out on the 11th anyway it was the greatest wimpy yet I mean wow it was really good but anyway get this book unless you don't have the other books but anyway get it now or else 😈

I loved the book because it was sooo interesting and it made me laugh waiting for the next book to come out

Amazing new book anyone can read. You will laugh and smile through this book. I'm a bit sad the book ended and to wait another year for the next one. I KNOW IT WILL BE AWESOME

I gave this book 5 because it is entertaining and IAll of them are. I love this series u have so much fun reading it you at done before u know it it takes me not even one day and others take me days
