A great little book to give to that person you know who is retiring. There are so many books out there on this subject and after reading all the descriptions, I decided on this one to give as a gift to my sister in law who just retired. She very much appreciated it and is looking forward to reading it for ideas for when she gets bored! I recommend this book.
I have many interests and hobbies and thought I'd never be bored. As a new retiree, I have been a bit bored and have been searching for meaningful ways to spend some of my time. This book provides excellent suggestions and let's you know you're not the only one adjusting to the transition.
I read this book after I retired. It had some good examples of things others do to keep busy and fulfilled in their retirement years. It was a bit repetitive to read but did have some good ideas - probably could have been half the length.
I've seen so many books about the financial aspect of retirement, but not many about how you feel about not going to work every day. This book had so many ideas and was so helpful in adjusting my thinking about retirement and what I should be (or not be) doing all day. I though it was really helpful.
Great ideas that calmed my anxieties down. This author knows what people facing the end of a career worry about and presents solutions that I hadn’t considered.
Still have no set plans for retirement
Most of those preparing to retire make the mistake of focusing exclusively on the financial side of the equation. They figure if they get the money side of things taken care the rest will be easy. Not the case! Too many find themselves retired and not sure what to do to make the most of the freedom they worked so hard to experience. Patrice provides clear, concise guidelines for how to plan and prepare for that equally important non-financial side of retirement. Sharing real life stories of success and failures experienced by those entering retirement, her book points you in the right direction while highlighting important areas to be considered. My personal favorite is planning in 2-year increments rather than attempting to address the next 20-30 years. This book is an easy read with valuable information in each chapter. I highly recommend it for those looking ahead to best prepare for their retirement happiness.

I believed, as an "expert" on retirement, I could honestly evaulate her comments and point out where she was "wrong" or bring up points she had left out. I must confess, I have nothing to add and feel Ms. Jenkins has not missed any question or issue facing people who will soon be deciding what their "retirement" could or should look like. I see myself in many of the chapters. As I reflect on this work I realize that, had I had it as a resource as my retirement approached it would have been a "must" read.
