This is perhaps the most beautiful book I've ever seen. Everything about it is impressive: its large size, the embossed front cover, the quality of the writing, and the richness of the photographs and artwork. The art is so beautifully reproduced it almost has a 3D look to it. On several occasions I found myself running my hand over the page expecting to feel a real texture because it was so well done. I've seen hundreds of art books in my life but this one sets a new standard. It really has to been seen in person to appreciate.

One of the best purchases I've made regarding a Disney related product. Taschen books are known to be of the highest quality and this book is no exception. First off it's massive and heavy. The quality of workmanship on this book is the best I've seen and the topics covering these years of Disney animation from beginning until 1968, is comprehensive with no details left out. Any Disney fan would want to do anything to get their hands on one of these books. The main word I could use to describe this book is Lush.

I am very impressed with this book. First, I like the packaging. I had to go through 3 boxes to get to the book. Nothing wrong with that. I know. The book is very big and heavy but it is a state of the art. The extensive content, the pictures so vivid and colorful. A lot of the pictures cover the whole page that they just need a picture frame and be hunged on the wall. That's impossible without damaging the book lol. Anyways. I really recommend this book. Already looking forward to the next edition. Hopefully, that continues the trajectory all the way to the present day.

Quite simply, an amazing book. There are some outstanding Disney art books in existence, but this one sets a new standard. The print quality is truly something to behold, I've particularly enjoyed how beautifully sharp some of the cel setups look. They almost appear to jump off the page. Most of the images have never been in print before, but the few that I have recognized from other books look better than ever. Add to this essays by some of the most respected Disney historians, and you have a dream come true for fans of Disney animation. Oh, not to mention the fact that the package films finally get some much deserved love! Has instantly become the favourite book in my collection. I can't wait for volume 2!

This really is an amazing book and I'm looking forward to the next oneAll impressive: size, design and picture content. Pictures so large that even though you may have seen them many times you will have a new appreciation. Plus it is well written with information new to me after having read numerous history of Disney books for years. What makes it so impressive is also my reason for 4 stars. It is so large and heavy it is near impossible to find a comfortable way to read it. I find myself at the kitchen table with it propped up like I'm doing homework! I fear some may forgo the excellent text because of that. If it were a set of 3 it might be more manageable. Still this is one not to be missed.

Yep, I read through the previous reviews, but nothing can prepare you for the size and quality of this book when you open it. The attention to detail from the binding, to the paper to the overall content is amazing. The pages are heavy weight - you don't have to worry about damage from people browsing the book. The illustrations and accompanying narrative are in-depth without being overly "Wordy". The cover illustration calls to anyone who is a Disney fan as the book lays on a table.I can see this being a cherished book sought out by my grandchildren (When I get some) when they come over. There is enough content and richness to said content to make we want to return again and again to review the book. That is the magic of Disney, to be able to return to their product and always find something a little new.Overall, I feel like I got a steal of a deal on this. It is that impressive.

Finally, someone has come up with a thoughtfully written, beautifully produced overview of the work of one of the 20th century's great homegrown geniuses.Taschen -- long loved by me for the beauty of their books more than the quality of their editorial content -- has lately been stepping up their game, and this is a beast of a book that's as smart as it is gorgeous.Until someone else has the time, money and energy to outdo it -- and why would they try? -- this'll stand as THE book about the Disney miracle.

An absolute treasure for any Disney fan appreciative of the company's history, heritage, and the work of Walt himself. Incredible artwork and lots of insightful text:new content by a variety of film critics and historians who've written about Disney in the past. The book details the actual studios where Walt Disney and his animators worked as well as the films (short and feature) from the Alice Comedies through The Jungle Book. Oft-neglected projects like Silly Symphony shorts beyond The Skeleton Dance (the first), Three Little Pigs (the sensation), and Flowers and Trees (the first in color), Victory Through Air Power, and the famously unavailable Song of the South receive time and attention in this incredible volume. The book is huge and comes in its own keepsake box, which helps protect it from the curiosity of my cat!
